Outreach
The Outreach program aims to improve the sexual health of gay, bi, trans and other sexuality-diverse men across three broad areas.
These are:
- Outreach – at Sex On Premises Venues
- AppReach – online on dating and hook-up mobile apps
- Outreach – at social LGBTIQA+ community events
Outreach volunteers receive training specific to this community-facing role, enabling them to talk to people in a variety of locations.
Outreach provides opportunity for people at these sites to ask questions about sexual health, HIV, and other health topics, and find connections to relevant health services.
Thorne Harbour Health’s weekly radio show and podcast on JOY 94.9, Well Well Well, featured an episode about Outreach volunteers in July 2021. Listen to this episode here.
Outreach in online and in-person settings for LGBTIQA+ women and trans communities is also being explored as the Outreach program grows. Get in touch if you’re interested in volunteering.
