The Outreach program aims to improve the sexual health of all LGBTIQ+ folk, including lesbian, gay, bi+, trans, and other sexuality and gender diverse people across three broad areas.
These are:
- Outreach – at Sex On Premises Venues
- AppReach – online on dating and hook-up mobile apps
- Outreach – at social LGBTIQ+ community events
Outreach volunteers receive training specific to this community-facing role, enabling them to talk to people in a variety of locations.
Outreach provides opportunity for people at these sites to ask questions about sexual health, HIV, and other health topics, and find connections to relevant health services.

Duties:
Volunteers from the LGBTIQ+ community provide individual social support for isolated elderly members of the LGBTIQ+ community, living in their own homes or in aged-care facilities. Support includes home visits and outings for a movie or coffee and a chat.
Directions:
Rainbow Connection volunteers usually visit clients fortnightly, and visits can be on weekdays or weekends.
Skills: Good listening skills and an ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of people.
Requirements: Volunteers must identify as members of the LGBTIQ+ community. Own transport is an advantage but not essential.
