A Specialist Family Violence Service in Adelaide for Our LGBTIQA+ Communities:
Thorne Harbour Health offers a specialist family and domestic violence service for LGBTIQA+ people in Adelaide. This service is by community, for community—supporting queer people of all identities who have experienced or are experiencing family or domestic violence in Adelaide.
We understand that LGBTIQA+ communities experience family and domestic violence at higher rates than the general population, and that many people delay seeking help due to discrimination or negative past experiences with mainstream services.
At Thorne Harbour Health, your sexuality and gender will always be affirmed, and your experiences of violence will be taken seriously.
What Our Family Violence Service in Adelaide Offers
Our service supports LGBTIQA+ people who are:
- Currently in unsafe domestic or family violence situations
- Planning to leave a violent relationship
- Recovering from family or domestic violence experienced within the last two years.
You can self-refer or be referred by a health provider or support service.
What to Expect
Our trained case managers can support you to:
- Identify different types of abuse within your relationships
- Assess risk and develop a personal safety plan
- Explore housing and accommodation options
- Liaise with South Australia Police (SAPOL)
- Access financial assistance
- Connect with legal, mental health, and other relevant support services

Referral: Download our referral form and email a completed version to thhsaintake@thorneharbour.org or call us on(08) 7078 4128 to book an appointment.
