What is Behaviour Change?

Thorne Harbour Health offers 20 week behaviour change programs for gay, bi, trans and queer men and non-binary people who want to change their use of harmful behaviours in relationships.

The group program is a queer and trans affirmative space focused on honesty, responsibility and support for making change. We provide a non-judgemental environment to explore the impacts of your behaviour and beliefs on yourself, your partners and others in your life, so that you can start making the positive changes needed to develop and maintain healthy relationships.

Thorne Harbour Health delivers accredited men’s behaviour change programs for the queer community. All programs are provided at no cost to participants.

Is the Behaviour Change Program Right for Me?

Our behaviour change group might be right for you if:

  • You recognise that your behaviour has been hurting the people you love, or you think you might be acting in a controlling or abusive way
  • You would benefit from a space to talk honestly about your own actions and choices that you are not proud of
  • You want to be a safe person for your loved ones to be around no matter what else is going on
  • You want to start being accountable for your behaviour and making changes that support healthy and respectful relationships
  • You want to do a program like this, or you have been recommended to do a behaviour change program by the courts or other services
  • You feel like a behaviour change program delivered by a LGBTIQA+ community organisation is the best fit for you

Am I Eligible?

  • You are over 18 years old
  • You are a gay, bi, trans or queer man, or you are non-binary and feel this program could be a good fit for you
  • You live in Victoria and can attend a group in metro Melbourne
  • You cannot attend an in person group but could attend an online group

If you are not eligible for these groups, or face other barriers to attending, please get in touch with us to discuss alternatives for support. You can also find more LGBTIQ+ inclusive services at safealways.org.
