Taking Charge Peer Support Network presents: Dementia, Let's Get This Conversation Started.
Find Out More
Dementia is a severe form of HIV Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND), so it's important PLHIV become familiar with the condition. In 2024 it is estimated there are more than 421,000 people living with all forms of dementia in Australia. So, what exactly is dementia? How can we recognize it and how can treat it?
To coincide with Dementia Action Week, 16-22 September 2024, join us as we unpack these conditions. The more we understand neurocognitive conditions the better we can deal with them.
We will be joined by Neale Gerlach, a volunteer at the Memory Lane Cafe, a regular social support group for the LGBTIQ+ community living with dementia, at the Victorian Pride Centre. Neale will be discussing information and a range of support services available from Dementia Australia and how we can shape dementia friendly communities to improve the lives of people living with cognitive impairment.
