There's some incredible talent in Victoria's Loddon Mallee Region, especially when it comes to story telling and spoken word. This event is an organic event that comes from the collective expressions of interest from local artists who independently got in touch wanting to be a part of the 2019 Bendigo Pride Festival.

Comes along to this FREE event and see what happens! Here's just some of the people you can expect to hear from on the night...

  • Kieran Atkins identifies as a young gay trans man and writes clever and insightful pieces in the tradition of folk storytelling. Kieran is currently studying a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Australian Institute of Music and has particular interest in exploring LGBTIQA+ storytelling in the folk tradition, as well as exploring what it means to be a queer folk musician.   • David Azul started writing autofiction as part of his PhD exploring notions of subjectivity, autobiography, voice, gender, and communication in 2005. Since then David's work has been published in edited collections and journals of diverse disciplinary positioning, aims and research. David promises to offer an accessible and insightful piece examining gender diversity, at times intersecting with sexuality and other aspects of sociocultural belonging.   • Ben MacEllen is a local trans activist, writer, actor and lyricist that has been writing stories, songs, poems and plays since he was a little girl named Susan. Ben writes and speaks extensively about his experience as a transgender man which is also the focus of his memoir, A Cut Closer to Whole. A semi-finalist at the World Championship of Public Speaking 2018 in Chicago, Ben promises to share some snippets and insights from his one-man show premiering later this year.
