In mid 1983, community activists forged in the fires of gay and lesbian liberation gathered in response to the emerging HIV and AIDS epidemic. Their collective action led to the formation of the Victorian AIDS Council (VAC) – now Thorne Harbour Health.
Join us and we hear from four esteemed panellists:
- Alison Thorne – socialist, feminist activist and one of the founding members of VAC
- Phil Carswell OAM – founding VAC President
- Dr David Bradford – sexual health and HIV/AIDS physician
- Adam Carr – pioneer HIV/AIDS journalist, activist, and VAC President (1986-87)
The panellists will reflect their experiences in the early days of the epidemic, and the responses that have spurred four decades of actions for our communities.
This forum is a free event, but spaces are limited. Please register via Humantix.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided to attendees. This will be a seated event.
This forum is held in conjunction with the 40 Years of Community Activism Exhibition at the @14 Gallery in Collingwood - showcasing four decades of activism at Thorne Harbour Health.
