Women's Health
As a community-led organisation, LGBTIQ+ women have played an important role in our establishment, history and work since our very founding. That tradition continues today at Thorne Harbour Health, and our role as an organisation only grows to help meet the health service needs of LGBTIQ+ women, inclusive of all intersectionalities. We're committed to working with LGBTIQ+ women for LGBTIQ+ women through the development of a long-term women’s health strategy.
Since 2015, we have been actively responding to the need for improved understanding of and access to appropriate services for LGBTIQ+ women – from the establishment of the LGBTIQ Women’s Health Conference, which has become an annual event delivered with our NSW counterpart ACON, to alcohol and smoking support groups, mental health and counselling services, intimate partner and family violence support, and the celebration of many incredible and dedicated LGBTIQ+ women volunteers within our community. We work to provide practical solutions to some of the challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ women’s communities in seeking and accessing appropriate care and support.
