Expression of Interest: HIV Living Experience Advisory Committee
Thorne Harbour Health is establishing a HIV Living Experience Advisory Committee to provide guidance, advice, and support to our services.
This committee will play a critical role in shaping our strategic direction and operations, ensuring that the diverse lived and living experiences of people with HIV are not only heard but embedded in the decisions that impact their lives.
The Role of the Advisory Committee
The commitee will:
- Work collaboratively with people living with HIV and community partners to build inclusive, representative leadership across THH.
- Provide both living expertise and professional insight, particularly from those with marginalised or underrepresented experiences.
- Support the implementation of the THH Strategic Plan 2024–2029 through an intersectional, community-led approach.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking up to 8 members who are living with HIV with diverse and intersecting identities and experiences, including (but not limited to):
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Cisgender Women
- Trans and gender-diverse people
- People who are clients of THH Services
- Heterosexual people
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Young people (under 30)
- LGBTQIA+ people
- People living with disability
- People with lived experience of incarceration, homelessness, or systemic marginalisation
We strongly encourage people with multiple and intersecting lived/living experiences to apply. Your story, your identity, and your insight matter deeply to this work.
What We’re Looking For
We value both personal living experience of HIV and professional knowledge of the HIV sector. You do not need formal qualifications — your living knowledge is expertise.
Membership Details
- Appointments will run until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension.
- Members will be appointed through an open Expression of Interest and interview process.
- A nominal honorarium payment will be provided to support participation and help cover any associated costs.
Commitment
- Approximately 4–5 meetings annually
- Participation in at least 3 key engagement opportunities, providing critical feedback on programs, policy, and strategy
We strive to make engagement accessible — let us know how we can support your full participation.
Why Join?
- Help shape inclusive and responsive HIV services grounded in living experience
- Ensure that a diversity of voices and identities are at the centre of leadership and decision-making
