CEO Update: Isolating This Summer
11 Jan 2022
In light of the current omicron variant of COVID-19, Thorne Harbour Health CEO Simon Ruth encourages our communities to look after those of use isolating during the summer festival season.
"Hi I’m Simon Ruth from Thorne Harbour Health.
Over the holidays and into the new year, we have seen how quickly the omicron variant of COVID-19 can spread. Most of us NOW know someone who has COVID-19 or is a close contact. And testing for COVID-19 has become challenging with PCR testing sites overrun and Rapid Antigen Tests becoming hard to come by.
We know that this can be a stressful time, but if you do become symptomatic, self isolating is the first thing to do to help look after your yourself and those around you. It’s also important to let the people you’ve been around know so they can monitor for symptoms and potentially get tested.
With the warmer weather and festivities happening, isolating during the summer season can be frustrating. For those of you isolating, a little self-care can go a long way. Make the most of the time inside to look after your health and wellbeing.
For those of us with friends or our chosen family in isolation, check in to see if they need anything or even just drop off a care package.
Our community has a long legacy of looking after one another during difficult times. Let’s continue that legacy because we’re stronger together. Over the course of this pandemic, we have faced so many challenges. We will overcome this one as well.
If you need advice on the various supports available please visit our website thorneharbour.org or give us a call. Have a safe summer and, hopefully, a happy new year."
