Writing Ourselves In is a year-long project led by Thorne Harbour Health to document and celebrate the history of HIV in South Australia — and we’re inviting community members to get involved in one of three key ways:
PLHIV aged 50+: Join a monthly workshop series to develop skills in oral history, archival research, and writing and share your lived experience. No prior experience needed — just your voice.
Younger PLHIV: Take on a supporting role: assist with research, listen to community stories, and help preserve this powerful legacy for future generations.
Story & Archive Contributors: Got old photos, documents, flyers, or memories to share? We’re collecting materials from across the community to help shape the final work.
At the end of the project, all of this work will come together in a professionally published book, launched in 2026.
