Corporate Volunteering Opportunities
Our corporate volunteering sessions are designed to be benefit both parties. Volunteers will engage in activities such as:
- Assembling Red Ribbons for World AIDS Day,
- Preparing safe sex packages
- Creating other outreach materials.
What You’ll Learn
Our goal is to ensure that participants leave feeling empowered, inspired, and more connected to our cause. What you’ll learn during the session:
- HIV 101: including what the HIV acronym means, what it’s like living with HIV today, and how HIV affects LGBTIQ+ people.
- Thorne Harbour Health’s history: learn about our 41 year history of advocacy and activism, including the wide range of services we now offer beyond sexual health and HIV.
- LGBTIQ+ inclusion: including pronouns, diverse genders, and how to treat LGBTIQ+ colleagues with respect.

Condom Packing Workshop
Participants will assemble condom packs that include a condom, a packet of lube, and an informational card. The workshop aims to promote safe sex practices and provide crucial information about sexual health. The packs are distributed to clinics, community centers, and events to reach those who benefit most.

- Available on adjacent streets. Hoddle Street offers 2-hour and 4-hour spots after 10am.

- Bus: Route 246 stops in front of the building
- Tram: 10-15 minute walk from the 86 tram down Smith St.
What are the accessibility features of the venue?
- Building Access: Two glass sliding doors with sensor operation.
- Training Rooms: Located on Level 1; accessible by stairs or lift.
- Facilities: All-gender and fully accessible toilets on each floor, a quiet room available, and ergonomic seating.
- Quiet Space: Adjoining meeting rooms are available if needed.
What are the safety procedures and guidelines?
- Emergency Exits: You will be guided to the location of emergency exits and fire alarms.
- First Aid: A first aid kit is available in the training room. Report any injuries to staff immediately.
- COVID-19 Protocols: Follow current health guidelines, including hand hygiene and social distancing if required.
- Incident Reporting: Report any incidents or hazards to a staff member immediately.
What will happen in the condom packing workshop?
Participants will assemble condom packs that include a condom, lube packet, and informational card. The workshop also involves educational components about safe sex practices and Thorne Harbour Health’s services. The completed packs will be distributed to clinics, community centres, and events.
What happens during the Red Ribbon Making Workshop?
Participants will create red ribbons used for HIV/AIDS awareness. Activities include crafting the ribbons, quality control, to be distributed on World AIDS Day. Educational materials about HIV/AIDS and Thorne Harbour Health’s campaigns will be provided.
How is the Red Ribbon different from others?
The Victorian Red Ribbon, introduced in the early 1990s, features an inverted ‘V’ design symbolizing that it can be turned upright to signify victory over HIV. The gold safety pin signifies safe sex, and the ribbon was redesigned for cost efficiency and greater visibility.
