The best way to find out more is to come along to an information session so you can hear more about Thorne Harbour Health as an organisation and the volunteering opportunities that are available. You will hear from managers and volunteers who work in specific roles.

Our volunteer roles are widely varied, therefore attending our information session is a great chance for you to hear from the program areas which are currently recruiting. You may also like to look at some of our volunteer roles and their position descriptions by looking at our volunteer roles.

After the initial information session volunteers are required to attend core training for all new volunteers. These are held periodically throughout the year and are typically held on a Saturday between 9.00am & 4.00pm.

If attending an information session does not work for you, please get in touch so we can discuss other options.

Corporate Volunteers.jpg

Bring your organisation's team to volunteer with us and learn about Thorne Harbour Health's mission and history.

We offer volunteer sessions for corporates and other organisations at our offices at 200 Hoddle Street in Abbotsford. It's a fantastic way to show your support for people living with HIV and our LGBTIQ+ communities whilst giving your staff an educational and fulfilling experience.

Volunteers often put together safe sex packages and other meaningful collateral. When a group arrives, our Volunteer Coordinator will take you through Thorne Harbour's 40 year history of advocacy and activism. We'll do an HIV 101 introduction and an explanation of all our services, including counselling, housing and medical clinics. We'll also explain pronouns and best practice allyship for our LGBTIQ+ communities.

Teams that come to these sessions leave feeling stronger and inspired. If you're interested in getting involved, send an email to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteers@thorneharbour.org with:

  • The number of staff you want to attend
  • Your organisation's name and operation
  • Your preferred times (we are flexible with midweek hours).
